Mighty Oaks Outdoor Track Opens up at Utica
The Mighty Oaks Outdoor track team opened up at the Utica Pioneer Almost Spring Invite on Sunday March 30th. The weather was not in favor for an outdoor track meet with windchills in the 30's and 25+ mph winds.
Despite the challenging weather, the Oaks had 2 first place finishes:
Men's 800- Tyler Anderson (2:03.47)
Women's 800- Katie Hite (2:34.43)
The women's 800 also had Margaret Ryan come in 2nd place (2:36.01).
Colin Flannery took 4th in the men's 1500m (4:24.20).
Coach Melfi had this to say about the team;
"Many set personal best times and qualified for the USCAA Outdoor Track Nationals. We battled in tough conditions, and I was wicked proud of how we supported each other in the races. There was an indoor option to stay warm, but we dressed appropriately and cheered loudly!"
