Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Run

On October 3rd, the men's and women's xc teams competed in the 51st Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University. This was the teams return back to the Paul Short Run after an 11 year hiatus. Competing in the Green race, the men finished 23rd/35 teams, while the women, (not at full strength) finished an impressive 21st/34 teams. 
Junior Aidan Watts once again led the Oaks with an 8k time of 28:32 placing 112 out of 317 finishers. First year Connor Stach set a personal best and was the 2nd Oak in with a time of 28:56, placing 139th. 
 
Senior Maura O'Brien led the lady Oaks placing 49th out of 249 with a time of 24:29 (6k). O'Brien's time places her 29th all time (6k) on the ESF leader board. Not far behind was Senior Margaret Ryan, in at 58th place with a time of 24:38. 
 
"This was an awesome meet, the course, seeing all the big time schools, and the overall atmosphere was amazing," said Senior captain Hayden Bregg. 
 
"Competing at Paul Short is about the experience. Yes, we had a few get personal records, but this will prepare us really well for championship time, and our last few meets of the regular season," Coach Melfi said. 
 
Next up the Oaks will compete at the Canisius Alumni Classic in Buffalo, NY on Saturday October 18.
